TSF at Silverstone Classic - imperial fasteners for classic racing cars
Silverstone Classic is the most important annual race meeting for classic race cars, and Thomas Smith Fasteners were in attendance. This huge, three day event saw unprecedented crowds with a record attendance of 90,000, with 24 races and cars spanning 9 decades of motor sport history.Several of motor sport's most famous names and champions including Jackie Oliver, Andy Priaulx, Rob Huff, Tim Harvey and Gary and John Pearson all competed, and commentating legend Murray Walker was in attendance amongst the spectators and was interviewed. History was made when a new Silverstone Classic lap record of 1m 46.712 was set by Nic Minassian in the 1991 Jaguar XJR-14.
There were many attractions over a busy weekend, and a lot to take in! This long-nose Jaguar D Type that was driven to victory at Le Mans by Mike Hawthorn in 1955 was at the event.
There were also plenty of aerial activities. A pair of Spitfires performed a thrilling chase routine, as shown below:
Brooklands Museum were in attendance and demonstrated this fantastic WW1 Sopwith Camel
The show was also a success for us at Thomas Smith Fasteners. Our representatives visited both the National and International pit and paddock areas, and great interest was shown by teams with British made classic cars in our extensive range of BSF, BSW, UNC and UNF bolts, nuts and washers. Our assorted packs of fasteners are always handy to have in the garage in addition to the specialised parts that we manufacture and supply.
A truly unmissable spectacle for anyone with an interest in classic cars, we are already looking forward to next year's event.
